This restaurant is interesting because of its name, Plates ---- No not the ones you eat off of but the the ones attached to your car or truck (i.e, license plates from numerous locations and dates that are prominently displayed throughout the restaurant). The food can generally be described as diner or country style and servings are generous. The very BEST deal, however, is their weekly prime rib buffet. Included are about a dozen very well prepared side dishes and salads and unlimited servings from the chef of their freshly prepared beef roasts. Also included are a variety of buffet desserts. ALL for around $15 each for adults! Did I mention that coffee is also included . . . ENJOY

Chose as an untried option when in Courtenay, and was close to where we were. Hype was the all-day breakfast, which took up one entire side of the menu. The other menu was very much fried/diner type meals. Three of our party opted for breakfast choices. Corned beef hash was good meal for the price, although corned beef was cubed with the potato being the big chunk potatoes rather than shredded. Taste good, eggs done great. Seafood omelette was good. Chicken finger meal provided a large portion, but nothing noteworthy about the taste. Service was good and friendly. Price average. Bench seats cramped and not very comfortable.

This restaurant offers an incredible experience with homemade food that tastes delicious! My girlfriend and I visited while on vacation from the mainland, and let me say, whether you're a visitor or a local, this is easily one of the best breakfast spots you'll ever try. The simplicity of the menu is what makes it so special - the food is delicious and will warm your heart. I would rate it a 10 out of 10.

More familiar with their breakfasts than other menu options, but decent bang for your buck. Had the " all or nothing" breakfast which consists of your choice of 5 pancakes or 3 French toast, plus 3 sausages, 3 bacon, 2 eggs, hash browns and toast, ringing in at $15.99 The bacon was a little overdone today, but generally you can get a decent meal at decent price. Picked this out of the many places in town for breakfast and were very pleasantly surprised. Almost everyone can make a reasonable breakfast but Plates takes it up a notch. Not by quantity or quality but over all. The service is friendly and cheerful, the food is as good as any, the atmosphere is comfortable, the coffee is very good. Oh and, in house home made strawberry jam for you toast....oh so good.

The restaurant had a fun automotive-themed decor. The family enjoyed their meals and the server was friendly. My burger patty appeared to be homemade and the fresh vegetables on top were delicious. We initially stopped in one day but found that the restaurant was closed to give the staff a day off, which we found understandable in today's world. We were glad to have tried again.

I will not go back. The food was bland and the service just sucked. I understand if you're busy and don't have time to quality check, but if you're not busy you need to check on your patrons at least once. Lame that the first time was so terrible.

I had high hopes for this place and it was incredibly average. The one thing it has going for it was an exceptional staff. My server was a real joy. My special was a sad little offering and I still left mildly happy. Reserve uma mesa agora

The great canapka with pastrs, burgers, and so on to this garden tales of hair, batats, and cebullocks, we're going to the :) the coffee is one of the better innkeepers, and not in the euro.

Went with a group from work. Everyone enjoyed their lunch and the prices were very fair. Service was good. It could use a little freshing up inside..looks dated.
