Haskell's Port Of Excelsior

Well... I have been here a few times now and have a hard time doing this review because I know what they are trying to be... and it seems like a review should reflect their success at doing that, not what the reviewer thinks they should try to be or tomatch any association to their namesake. Most recently, I stopped in with a couple friends for beers. One would think with thisbeing Haskell's, the tap beer list would be more diverse, local, and interesting but it is not, what they have is very standardstuff so any expectation otherwise will be dashed. Look! You wanna go people watch, this is your place to be! This is a first come, first serve, seat yourself kind of place. The way they have the outside setup, is like a hightop bar that wraps the corner of the street. So, as people walk and drive by, or,people coming off the lake cruises, you can watch it all go down. So, send somebody to save a spot, grab some food and drink, orlike me, go nextdoor to the winner shop and buy a bottle and have them cork out for you for $5 and watch all the magic happen!!!

Over-rated. Very basic bar food but not in a good way. Picture a school cafeteria. Bland and over cooked. Seems like the regulars who have been going here for 40 years still like it but pretty much any other restaurant in Excelsior has higherquality food.

Great atmosphere, fantastic burgers w/fries and outstanding view. If you want a little insider taste of excelsior stay for the Bingo on Saturday?s or a late Thursday and play some pull tabs.

Good food! Real dive bar feel. The cooks really do care about their food and they have unique specials. Must try the prime rib grill cheese!
