If you notice some similarities between Rancatore's ice cream in Belmont (and Lexington) and Toscanini's in Cambridge, you're not mistaken. Both have bold signage and are owned by two brothers. Gus, the older brother, runs Toscanini's, while Joe runs Rancatore's. Although Joe used to work with Gus, they eventually parted ways due to differing opinions on ice cream. During my visit on a hot summer day, I purchased a "micro" size (a large scoop) for $5. I chose Cocoa Joel, which is a combination of their Milk Chocolate and Bittersweet (dark) chocolate ice cream with chocolate chips and cookies similar to Oreos. I have always been a fan of this ice cream shop and have been consistently impressed with the quality over the years. However, I was a bit disappointed that the prices have increased to $5 for one scoop. The store recently underwent a renovation, with a new black and red color scheme, as well as all new tables and seats. I recommend visiting this establishment if you are looking for delicious, high-quality ice cream.

The rasmalai-flavored ice cream at this Boston chain is incredibly delicious. It is arguably the best ice cream chain in the city, featuring a selection of excellent Indian-inspired flavors. Belmont has a fantastic ice cream shop. They offer unique flavors like Basil Chip. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I tried the coffee and ginger snap molasses flavors, while my wife opted for Basil Chip and Vegan Chocolate. It was the perfect treat to cool off on a hot day.
