Restaurant Coligny

Nice and busy restaurant offering a day menu at lunch for 16 euro 's. I was very curious how this lunch would look like at this price. The place was busy and frequented not only by tourists. That by itself is always a good sign. Staff was very busy too and obviously a bit overwelmed by the crowd. We arrived around 11 AM, hungry as without having a breakfast. A lovely and friendly waitress arranged some good coffee and some croissants. This good service and the location invited us to stay longer and to request a table by the water for lunch around noon. We arrived at 12:00 on a Tuesday in early July got the last available table hadn’t thought to book as we didn’t expect it to be that busy. Delightful waitresses who couldn’t be more helpful. There was a party of 12 ordering when we got there good entertainment as they were not very organised we felt so sorry for the waiter ! The food was delicious burger frites salade Italienne. All the food looked good the three course menu du jour had an excellent choice for only 18 euros. With our food, two glasses of wine two coffees, the bill was less than 40 euros. We would definitely go back but would certainly book the next time.

We arrived quite late considering the time of year, but nothing was too much trouble. The food, the cassoulet and foie gras in particular were excellent and home made which is often a rarity these days. The wine was excellent, especially the glass of white Bergerac moelleux as recommended by the young waiter to accompany the foie gras as opposed to the Montbazillac which is only sold by the half bottle. The service was excellent as was the location on the terrace by the river. Highly recommended and will certainly be going back the next time we're in Brantome

We celebrated our friend’s birthday here on Monday. We had an excellent lunch and the waiters were very friendly and helpful, even bringing a bowl of water for our dogs. Lovely setting, good food and great ambience, which was perfect for a celebration.

After 20 minutes of waiting a glass of wine arrived after I insisted, then after asking the bread came. We didn't wait for the charcuterie, but went to the neighbours instead, best choice ever.
