It's difficult to know how to rate a restaurant on the tripadvisor scale because your expectations might not match mine what's good for me might just be OK for you. So I feel a bit stingy just giving Le Bacchus an average rating in some ways it's worth more, in some ways less. Good points to me. Small Friendly Short menu, well cooked. Such a good meal, our dinner exceeded all expectations ! We were not sure what we could find on a Monday night, we ended up at Le Bacchus in Lancie. I began with egg en meurette ? an egg poached in red wine stock. It was such a rich taste with the reduced red wine, the sharpness of pearl onions, and what we later were told was a touch of garlic. It was one of my most memorable flavors from our entire trip. My wife's steak en frites was very good, so was my sausage in Beaujolais red wine sauce. We had two very good deserts. Good food from a limited menu, with friendly service. The Salad Beaujolaise and Oeufs Meurette were both delicious starters and the Saucison Beaujolais was a great choice of main course. We didn't bother getting a bottle of wain, electing for a pot of Morgon instead, which was much cheaper and very good. The restaurant is also one of the few in the area to be open on a Monday night.

Le Bacchus is the kind of restaurant that was so common 25 years ago. Small, simple and with delicious food. Lunch for 10 was no problem. Good portions and reasonable value. Madam was friendly and efficient. Our visit made a rainy day a pleasure.

Le Bacchus is a typical French restaurant/bar in the middle of Beaujeu, as the name suggests, is the small village from which Beaujolais gets its name. We had a simple, French lunch in very pleasant surroundings. Le patron was even pleasant!
