Restaurant Le Retinton

Déjeuner en famille accompagné d’un ami après une petite balade à Beaujeu. Au menu : 3 entrecôtes charolaises pour ma femme, ma fille cadette et moi, un tartare de bœuf pour ma fille aînée et des lasagnes chou/andouillette pour notre ami. Tout le monde s’est régalé : la viande était tendre et goûteuse, les fines frites maison savoureuses et les desserts délicieux (tartes à la praline, crème brûlée, mousse au chocolat et tiramisu). Même le vin blanc (Beaujolais, bien sûr) a charmé les papilles de ma femme. Le service a été impeccable et plutôt rapide compte tenu de l’affluence de ce midi-là. One of the great pleasures of touring rural France is finding small family run restaurants that specialise in home cooking.Le Retention is no exception... nothing sensational, just solid well-prepared, well-cooked, well-presented simple traditional French dishes. Ma salade la César was a meal in itself, well-presented with a great sauce. And the apple tart was excellent. It cells its cooking Cuisine Bistronomique and that's exactly right. Bistro food well prepared, nothing too ambitious but using local fare and offering local dishes, like oeufs en Meurette (poached eggs in a rich wine sauce) magnet de canard, and good local cheeses. We passed by eatly afternoon, longibg for a coffee. The tables on the terrace were not catered for lunch, so we sat down as it seemed there was no line andno-one to guide you to a table etc. The young waitress came to our table, didn 't ask us anything. I 'm fluent in French, lived in Paris when younger so asked politely in French if we could have two coffees. I was really put off when the waitress answered in English 'This is a restaurant ' and walked away. Extremely rude and unpolite, even if it 's not possible to have just a drink around 1pm during the lunch hour. After an experience like this not eager to go back to dinner etc even the food is highly recommended.

Le décor, l'ambiance et le personnel sont superbes, créant une atmosphère chaleureuse et accueillante dès notre arrivée. Les plats sont d'une qualité irréprochable....le délicieux tartare de saumon, le steak tartare et aussi la choucroute beaujolaise très appréciés et juste délicieuse! Les portions sont généreuses et un bon rapport qualité-prix. Nous reviendrons aussi souvent que possible! Nous recommandons vivement ce restaurant!
