Restaurant MERLIN am Zauberberg

This restaurant is not far from our home, so it has become one of our local favorites!! We recently had lunch with friends who have just moved to Kelkheim. Certainly an excellent restaurant. Merlins is operated by folks of Indian decent and this is reflected in their menu. They have a wide variety of cuisines including German, Italian and Indian. Our friends are English and wanted hot curries. That was no problem at Merlins. We ordered lamb Vindaloo, lamb Korma and Chicken Tikka. Who can resist a magic place called Merlin at a magic location like the Magic Mountain? No, we are not in Switzerland, but on a hill over Frankfurt, Germany, with a magnificent view over the Main plain. Location is certainly one good reason to go there, preferably during day light or on clear nights. Food is another good reason. The menu is a surprising combination of mostly Italian things plus some Indian dishes. Not the least of the attractions is the fairly decent naan...it is not easy to find good naan in Germany. On two recent lunch visits, I had pasta on one day and a veal escalope with fresh chanterelles on the other. Both excellent. My daughter had a mediocre pizza, but the next time...

This restaurant definitely has class and can boast a wonderful view of the Rhein Main valley and the Frankfurt City skyline from atop the Zauberberg in Ruppertshain. The interior is cosy and one can sit outside on the terrace on warm summer days. Reservations are highly recommended since the seats fill up quickly. They serve great Indian and Italian dishes as well as German meals they also have very tasty crusty pizza. Prices are moderate to high, but the food is worth it. Service is friendly and attentive, and I would definitely recommend the MERLIN to anyone wanting an exquisite meal.

You will love this restaurant if you are into Italian and/or Indian food. It offers both and both cuisines are of high standard. This restaurant is perfect to go to with family and friends. For it to be perfect, make at least on the weekends, sure that you order a table if possible at the window. Then you will be able to enjoy a magnificent view over Frankfurt.

We went on Sunday afternoon for lunch after a long walk in the area and that was a great idea. The food is nice (we had a complete menu with several options, leinn soup and curry chicken was very delicious). The staff is very friendly and you can enjoy the beautiful views from the place. Overall, I recommend a good experience!
