"We ate Mey Chow twice. In fact, the food was abundant, tasty and healthy. Prices were also very reasonable. We paid less than 30,000 COP the two of us including drinks and tips. The restaurant itself is very nice with a good ambience and excellent service. So if you are for delicious Asian cuisine at reasonable prices, this is definitely the place to go in Popayan!"

When we went along to this restaurant I was really keen to have some Chinese food as we had not has any since we came away. The menu is very limited and we decided to order a noodle dish and a Szechuan chicken with rice between us it was far too much and one dish would have sufficed for both of us. They did however do us a doggy bag. The food itself was ok but not fantastic. The Szechuan chicken at least had some dried chillies in it to give it a bit of kick and was nice enough. The noodles were supposed to be chow mein but were in a kind of oyster/soy sauce which was nice but a little sickly. On the plus side both dishes had lots of veggies in them which was very welcome! The service was sl...

I had the veggie combo and it is honestly some of the most tasty Chinese food I had outside of China. At first glance, the combination is the only veggie option on the menu, but most other dishes can be made as vegetarian dishes on request. The restaurant is run by Wilson who speaks excellent English and his beautiful wife Ángela. Mey Chow is actually the oldest restaurant in Popayan. Wilson's father emigrated from China in 1928 and began the restaurant in 1967 and later took over the couple. Wilson sprinkles his own bean sprouts that add to the authenticity of the dishes. Their sons follow in their footsteps with Mey Chow Northe, Berenjena and Via Pietra.

There are two locations in Popayan a north and a center. When I went here for the first time, the owner volunteered that all their meals could be made vegetarian. I asked how she knew I was vegetarian and she said in Spanish, Many Americans are vegetarian. She pinched me! For vegetarians the menu is limited, but the food is good. I usually get one of the combination meals with vegetable fried rice, steamed vegetables and they replace tempurage vegetables for chicken nuggets (not like McDonald 's). The portions are generous and I can eat two large meals with a full order. I've eaten with meat eaters who also enjoy their food.

The place is on the edge of the historic city you need to find it hard. The food was nice, but I had better. They did not have many traditional Chinese foods that you would find in restaurants in Australia (e.g.: lemon chicken, honey chicken.... Meals are big and they will offer you a Doggy bag if you don't eat it all. If you feel like a change shape of Colombian food, give this place a way. The food is cheap and value for money.
