Roberts Smokin Bbq 2

Nice setup off the side of highway. Ordered half chicken with a couple sides for lunch. Chicken was either from the day before or just over cooked. When the meat falls of the bone without any resistant what so ever and has that mushy dry texture gives you that reason. Skin had a little char taste to it. Had collards and Mac and cheese ,had nice little spice kick to it. Bbq sauce I guess saved the day. Sorry to say average at best. I love to give great reviews but I just couldn't today.

I was totally ignored for about 10 minutes waiting at the counter. I felt racially disrespected as the woman at the counter went out her way to walk past me to make sure the customers that were already seated and and given their orders were good and never acknowledged me or my child. I was pretty excited to try their salmon. But yeah after that type of service. They'll never get my business.

Not sure about the mixed reviews on this place. We went twice recently and were very impressed. I judge BBQ contests (over 100 of them) and Robert does BBQ well. He might have bad days, etc. but I ate some fine pulled pork and brisket from this place. The sides were decent and the different BBQ sauces were all good. Would have no problem eating here on a regular basis.

Super taste AND prices. Very friendly, accommodating staff. Owner, Robert, is almost always there to chat with. Worth the effort to find them on the East northbound side of US 19.

How is this place not 5 stars? eating is fresh, inexpensive and tasty! and the family is super nice. local property and quality!
