Salero Kito Padang Restaurant

This is one of my favorit restoran in Melbourne and visited at least once month. Sadly, when I writing this review, the restaurant in Malvern has closed down. Fortunately there is another "Salero Kito" in Tivoli Arcade in the city. It serves authentic Padang (part of Indonesia in Sumatera) food like beef rendang (beef curry), fried chicken, dendeng balado (spicy crunchy beef jerky), gulai kikil (beef tendon curry) etc. For vegetarian there is gulai nangka (young jackfruit curry) or gulai daun singkong (silverbeet curry in place of cassava leaves curry) or tempe and tahu goreng. the price is reasonable. Rice with 4 dishes only $15.

I went with 2 little kids for lunch. Surprised at how ridiculous the way they price their food. A plate of little plain rice AUD$ 3. A plate of plain rice with one meal is $8, with 2 meals $11 and 3 meals $12. I dont want to eat that much and i dint want to spend a tiny fried chicken for $4 either! Definitely not reasonable. Better go elsewhere.

Been to this place so many times after got introduced by a friend and kept secretly coming back by myself for the foods. Beef rendang and crispy beef are the usual choices.

I thoroughly enjoyed the authentic Indonesian cuisine from Sumatra at this restaurant. The Rendang and Crispy Beef were particularly outstanding.

I usually don't write reviews about anything, but today is the day. The food at this place is awful and the service is even worse.
