Schmatz - Reservar uma mesa

Wir haben nach unserer Hochzeits-Zeremonie und Apero (extern) im schmatz weitergefeiert mit Znacht und Party. Das Restaurant ist im Industrieviertel gelegen, was aber bei einer Feier den Vorteil hat, dass man keine Rücksicht auf die Nachtruhe nehmen muss. Die Einrichtung ist einfach, aber geschmackvoll: so passt jede individuelle Dekoration gut dazu. Das Essen war einfallsreich, fein und ohne chichi. Was aber den schmatz wirklich besonders macht ist das Personal. Diskret, aber sehr aufmerksam, auf das grosse Ganze bedacht mit dem Blick für Details, alles mit einer lockeren, freundlichen Art ausgeführt: das ist gelebte Gastfreundschaft! Interesting atmosphere. In summer it is very special here because of the terraces. The selection is a bit small at lunchtime, but the menus are well chosen. The service was quick and friendly. The food was good. Fries very good. Unfortunately, the cheeseburger we ordered only had very little cheese on it but the quality was good. The restaurant is really recommended for a simple, tasty lunch without a lot of frills.

Hidden in Basel‘s hip ever-developing post industrial Area “Dreispitz”, schmatz is not only an example of great, consistent cuisine but the one of the best excuses to get to know an exquisite side of Basel. Come for lunch, a coffee and in the warm seasons, a drink out on the terrace. Great location for events, located right above one of the best clubs in Europe (Elysia).

Unfortunately one of the few decent restaurants on the Dreispitz. But they do it very well, politely and in top quality. Maybe a little expensive but value for money is right!

Ate well, served well. The location, well... but you forget about it once you're there. All in all: great!
