I died here, but the hours are so wild that I would always miss it. if the hours were not silly enough, the selections are laughable. the pfu cake is sold only by half and the whole - so the $4.50 per disc over its menu is not what they will buy. the selection is spersome. I went on Friday at 4:30 a.m., this is 1.5 hours after the opening. there was hardly anything. my siblings sent me with a dream list based on the website, but again, this is not what happens inside. be ready to make such compromise. Shortcake is a great local bakery that offers really good quality products. I have tried their meat patties and cookies, which have all been delicious. They offer a weekend brunch in collaborations with Maryland Meadworks which I have not tried, but it looks tasty and fun. Great location right off the Northwest branch trail.Their hours are pretty limited, and some items that appear on their website may not be in stock on a given day (but you can order ahead). I this set up in largely driven by the fact that they are a small operation in a small town. Definitely worth the trip when they are open it is really nice to have this type of bakery available locally.

Though it was 5:20 when I arrived and they close at 7 and had only been open 2 and a half hours, only 3 cupcakes were available and they were all chocolate. Other than quiches, there was not much else available at all. I ended up getting cookies because I felt bad walking out with nothing and the 2 stars are for the cookies because they were quite good and one for the nice man working. It is disappointing to look at the menu, get your hopes up, and there be nothing available that was on the menu. If you are set on cupcakes that aren’t fully chocolate, I’d recommend trying somewhere else.

Cheryl is the best baker in the area. As a UMD student, I go here all the time (especially because it's a great price). The store creates amazing pastries but also fosters a sense of community so strong you'll want to keep coming back to chat with the interesting locals. She cooks everything from scratch. Get the quiche or award-winning patties. Also get a lil boujee with homemade ginger beer or a mimosa. Everything she makes is cooked with love.

I have pre-ordered a cupcake for the birthday of my father, and oh my gosh was the best dessert I ever had (and I don't even like usually cake). they were so sweet and helpful and picking went really smooth. I am so grateful to them and I will definitely come back/order!
