Tabac des Halles - Reservar uma mesa

This place is superb. After a couple of days in Fontainebleau it had become apparent that most restaurants are unjustifiably overpriced, which was a shame. On our morning stroll we'd noticed that the Tabac des Halles had a certain appeal so decided to have lunch there. The service, food, drinks and price were all excellent, making it a great place to spend an afternoon.

The only thing good are the tables outside. We stop here for a good table in the middle of the place after a good Sunday walk. The waiter (an old man) was very impolite with everyone and he didn't care to listen the people. I do not recommend this place just go away. Ah by the way, two small beers 8.80 euros, like in the center of Paris.

I go to this bar/restaurant regularly and I have never been disappointed. Good, honest French food, great service, quick and authentic bistro style. All the meat is faultless, try the steak or the lamb cutlets, for example. My firm favourite though is the home made tart Tatin (upside down warm apple tart) yum!!

A tabac would not normally be the place that I would associate with atmosphere and food BUT when strolling past it was obviously popular, and the visit was certainly worthwhile. A real old fashioned French bar feel with aptoned staff and surprisingly tasty food.

A great place for a relaxed French lunch. My friends enjoyed their plat du jour, and my steak was excellent. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
