The Docky Hut Cafe

This Nature reserve was such a refreshing change from the other Natuonal trust properties most of which are typical palatial manors or open woodlands. This is an undrained marshland with over 2000 acres. One could spend days exploring this place across various fens.The trust and park rangers have done a phenomenal job preserving this reserve in its pristine form. There are plenty of activities here for kids including a 45 min boat ride through the fen. The staff at here are super friendly and guide you with through a number of routes. Lovely relaxing place to visit and spend some peaceful time watching birds, the lovely flat board walk is great for when the weather is not so good. Nice clean toilets, large carpark and places to eat and drink.There is also a den making section for the children and adults just on the edge of the woods ideal to get creative.

Beautiful wetland habitat there’s a small boardwalk and woodland walk section suitable for families and a longer route which we didn’t have time to do. There’s also an intermediate length circuit only open in summer. Glad we arrived early as it got very busy by late morning.

this is a great place for a walk in nature and in the rest. there are several walks and I took a stretch that goes to the upware ship lift. on a good day they can see many birds on their way, this route is not paved so that it is muddy in patches.

A great venue to enjoy a walk along the boardwalk, or surrounding paths. Can get busy on Bank Holidays, so try and avoid !? Recommended.
