The Golden City - Reservar uma mesa

I normally go to a different Chinese takeaway in Arbroath, but after reading the good reviews on TripAdvisor for this restaurant, I thought I’d give The Golden City a go. I am honestly baffled by the good reviews that I read. The honey chilli chicken was unlike any I’ve had before- word of warning, it is not in a batter, nor is it in a nice, sticky and sweet honey sauce. It is in a veg-loaded, watery sauce.The sweet and sour pork balls were also not great. The insides were slimy, as the batter was undercooked. They do the big spring rolls, the ones that you can have a good chomp on. It has been my go 2 for a while as it has always been good. But the past couple of times things may just be starting to slip. May head somewhere else next time. Tried again had chicken chow main, chips, hot sour soup, deap fried shredded chicken in chilli garlic sauce and fried rice. It's such a shame really everything was good apart from the deep fried shredded chicken because it was burnt and the burt taste overpowered the chilli and garlic sauce. Unfortunately I won't be going back.

The takeaway may look a bit worn and slightly naff but I really can't fault the food. It's consistently good and tasty.

Food is always cooked to order and always hot. Would always recommend
