The Host Indian Restaurtant

I had seen The Host from the freeway, tucked in behind the car wash & the Brazilian waxing place, and assumed that it wouldn't be much good. After a couple of years, we gave it a try, and were very pleasantly surprised & have since been back a couple of times. Don't be put off by the warehouse exterior or the surroundings, inside is a comfortable white cloth restaurant, run by lovely Indian people with authentic food in a very welcoming atmosphere. The first time we went, there was some sort of function on, full of Indian people in traditional costume - presumably some sort of family celebration within the community, but they made us welcome anyway. We tried this restaurant while staying nearby and had a great time. The restaurant is now called Dhaba by Aangan and the website link on Tripadvisor was incorrect at the time of our visit. The food was delicious with a wide variety of vegetarian and meat dishes, along with great service and reasonably priced drinks. We recommend trying their special cocktails. The portions were generous, with appetizers more like main courses, so sharing might be a good idea. We each had an appetizer, main course with rice and naan, but it was too much food to finish. We highly recommend seeking out this slightly hard-to-find restaurant for a wonderful dining experience.

We visited this restaurant on New Years Eve (2015) there was nothing to complain about, the food was awesome, the wait staff were attentive and helpful, the prices are on par with other Indian restaurants and the serves are large, we did not have to have dessert.we left feeling very full and happy that we had an awesome experience, a must to have a meal here.

I went with a group of 8 people and received great, fast service at this restaurant. The food options ranged from mild to very spicy, satisfying all tastes. We enjoyed our meal and drinks, and were pleasantly surprised by the low bill of $330, which comes out to only $40 per person. This is a great spot for groups, families, and couples.

Tasty Indian food and lots of variety. Our family and friends enjoyed a fixed menu and there was plenty of variety and generous serves of food. Need a car to get there as it is not in centre of Melbourne
