The Jerk Pit - Reservar mesa

I’ve always heard good things about this place but it’s a little ways out for me to get to. Today I wanted some jerk pork and saw they delivered via Uber Eats. After waiting approx 90 minutes and paying $92. The food arrived and it turned out to be such a disappointment. The jerk pork was super salty, It was difficult to consume it. The rice and peas (without any pea, not even one) was hard (rice grains was stiff) and didn’t even have any sauce or gravy to accompany it. The best thing was the plantains. The mac and cheese, hmm never seen Caribbean mac and cheese done in this style before. Sad to say the Jerk Pit ain’t for me. In response to the owners reply: Evidently there is a known issue...

I ordered a medium oxtail with sides of rice/peas and cabbage. Of note the cabbage has green peas which I wasn't expecting. This was my first time seeing these in this style cabbage. I just picked around them. The rice has an all spice or clove taste. Also not what I was expecting but still good. The oxtail for a medium size was generous. Price was reasonable. They give you a pager to notify when order is ready. Small area to dine in if you chose to. They also sell a limited assortment of tropical ice cream. I purchased the soursop flavor. It's very creamy. Slight whipped texture to it.

I'm so glad I didn't listen to some of the negative reviews on this restaurant this place was absolutely fantastic first of all I walked in and I thought it was my great great Jamaican grandma in the kitchen cooking the place smells so good the curry goat plantings macaroni and cheese was fantastic music in the background helped also.. I ordered $35 worth of food still have some leftover for dinner.. Trust and Believe I'll be back there eating real soon!!! No need to add any new photos because the ones already posted are 100% correct

I had an excellent experience at this restaurant. My food was served promptly, within about 7 minutes, and it was hot and fresh. I’ve noticed that many Jamaican restaurants don’t include a lot of peas in their rice and peas dish, and I personally prefer a greater ratio of peas to rice. That's my only minor issue. The curry shrimp were plump and juicy, and I received more than eight pieces—absolutely delicious! The plantains were cooked just the way I like them, and the sweet potato cake was both flavorful and moist. Reserve uma mesa agora

Visiting MD and tried this restaurant. Food was great 5 out of 5 stars I ordered the 2 meat plate (curry goat and oxtail with rice peas and cabbage). The service 1 star… lady that takes the order wasn’t friendly poor attitude, she seemed miserable as if she didn’t want to be at work. She didn’t greet nor spoke the entire time. Don’t think she should be working the front where customer service is vital for the experience of customers.

I recently had my first experience at The Jerk Pit, and I have to say, it was incredible! The staff was welcoming, the atmosphere was delightful, and the food was out of this world. I tried the jerk wings and oxtails, and the jerk sauce they use is simply amazing. A special shoutout to Ms. Nash, the owner, who was fantastic. If you're in the College Park area and craving authentic Jamaican cuisine, I highly recommend The Jerk Pit!

Got take away. Food is ok for being in US. The woman cashing was petty grumpy/annoyed with life though. It’s like I was in kfc with that attitude. Took 40 mins for my order to be ready and ppl who ordered after me got their food before which was very annoying. Got jerk pork, which was a bit over cooked/dry and oxtail w/ peas and rice w/ plantains which was pretty good.

I received a notification that my food was ready but upon arrival I had to wait for another 30 minutes long story short it wasn’t worth it the mac cheese tasted like box mac cheese baked with real cheese on top the curry had no pepper as requested, I ordered curry assumed it came with rice. overall the food was nasty and salty. This place has me hooked on their jerk chicken that's actually marinated for some days, then broiled on an outside grill . My other favorite is their jerk salmon to die for. Nice little cozy spot in the cut off the main road. If you don't pay attention you could miss your turn

The only downside was the 40-minute wait, but given the crowd, the food was served hot and fresh. Overall, it was well worth the wait!
