A lovely country pub. Low beamed ceilings and an outside area to sit and have a drink. If you are going to eat there you must book first as it is very small. The menu is limited but what they do offer is well cooked. I had battered hake chios and peas. The batter was light and not grass and the chips were amazing some of the best I've ever had. My husband had steak with a mushroom sauce which was very good. Again the dessert menu was limited but we had local ice cream which was delicious. We came across this beautiful pub on a walk from the hop farm. Forgive me, for not remembering names, this place, the people that work here, provide a fantastic family atmosphere and service beyond ,and the most fabulous selection of food with excellent taste. Great little pub by the river. We stopped by to get away from traffic and hoped to get food (a Thurs evening) but as with many places now no food during the week sadly. Enjoyed a couple of our favourite Harvey’s Best beers sitting outside and there was a nice vibe and fairly busy, haven’t been for a while but will come back soon hopefully for lunch. I am new to the area and have visited this fantastic old pub twice. Both times, I sat outside in the beautiful sunshine, enjoying baguettes, chips, and drinks. The pub is located right next to the River Bourne, making it the perfect spot. It is also dog-friendly.
