Wish you could give it a minus star review. The owners are so rude, insulting, loud, drunk, been there, done it, got the t-shirt type people. The landlord is very insulting to customers, in fact calling a group of young ladies a bunch of dogs as they walked in the door (he hadn 't met them before either) was enough for me. How they get these nice reviews I don 't know, but can only say the food must be amazing but you would have to wear ear plugs to not hear the swearing etc coming from the vile man 's mouth, so can 't see that it would be an enjoyable experience. I shall not be going in there again whilst these horrible people are there. Shame as it used to be such a lovely friendly pub.
This looked like a beautiful, traditional pub serving gastro food at least according to its website. The inside (apart from the lovely fireplace and impressive wooden beams) sadly let it down. The tables were a bit sticky and didn’t feel like they were given a thorough anti bac clean during this time of Coronavirus. Some of the cutlery was wrapped in flimsy napkins and placed in what can only be described as the type of shelves you would find in a slimline dishwasher. There were some random bits of cutlery in there as well and we didn’t dare touch the vinegar bottle or salt and pepper pots without the certainty they were cleaned after each sitting.
Recently while we were staying in Devon, we came across this beautiful thatched pub. The new owners had recently renovated and the interior felt cozy and comfortable. The food was excellent, as we dined here on three separate occasions and enjoyed our meals every time. Owners Tracey and Collin were very welcoming and attentive to all customers. If you find yourself in the area, I highly recommend paying a visit. - Jenny Craig
We visited this pub a number of times during our stay in High Bickington and Tracey and Colin couldn’t have made us more welcome, and Harry the waiter was great too. Having recently taken over the owners have renovated the pub and it was tastefully done and the atmosphere very cosy. The beer was well kept and we also ate here too, and the food was excellent, and locally sourced. Thanks for making us feel so welcome. Reserve uma mesa agora
Came with a few of my family and I was absolutely stunned and disgusted with the language coming out of the mouth of the (obviously alcoholic) so called landlord. The amount of swear words and insults he was making to customers was atrocious. I will never set foot in that place again whilst they are there although I can't imagine they will have many customers the way he is carrying on. She isn't much better either.
Funny Pig Rabbits in back garden, food was similar to meals on wheels. Had the beef, like a flip flop poached in gravy, the leeks were raw and warm. Cost 15quid, laughable. The landlord was robust and friendly and his partner tried very hard to be professional, sadly the food failed for us.
We popped in here on spec for Sunday lunch. Whilst the place was very quiet, there was still a lovely homely atmosphere. The food was lovely and the owners staff were friendly and attentive. If you get the chance, this is the epitome of the hidden gem.
I really enjoyed the food at this restaurant. The owners seemed new, which may have been why the service wasn't amazing. However, they were very accommodating. Ultimately, the most important thing when dining out is the quality of the food. Reserve uma mesa agora
