The Original Cocina Azul

I had a wonderful experience at Cocina Azul in Old Town Albuquerque! Our waitress, Anastacia, was extremely friendly and professional, checking in on us several times throughout our meal. The restaurant was very clean and had a cozy atmosphere. The food was fantastic, and they served both red and green salsas as appetizers; they're really delicious but a bit spicy, so be aware if that's not to your taste. I ordered a stacked enchilada with ribeye and red chile, and it was honestly the best enchilada I've ever had! I highly recommend this place if you haven't been there yet. What an outstanding find during my travels. The service was beyond impeccable, and they seem to know all the regulars names and orders. Their food was outstanding and I’m definitely going back each time I hit the area. Substituting the Carne Adovada for the brisket on the combo plate was an excellent suggestion and waiter subbed the posole for me also as it was my first time, on point as well. Man I wish I lived near by to become a regular!!

The salsa was authentic, though it might be too spicy for some. My wife and I thought it was amazing. The main course was decent—good, but not exceptional. The server was welcoming and polite; however, we often had to remind them for items like the gravy that was supposed to be part of my order, the drink menu, and utensils. This could have been due to the restaurant being busy. Overall, it was a satisfactory experience.

The food was absolutely delicious! My husband ordered the brisket burrito Christmas style, which came with both red and green sauce, while I had the brisket enchiladas. We took flan home for dessert and I can’t wait to try it. Our waitress, Jasmine, was fantastic—always checking in on us and incredibly friendly. First timeguest while visiting and was as advertised. Great flavors and fresh tasting food. Started with guacamole which was simple and good Server recommend Frankie's Combo special and had a great variety of dishes. Co-hort ordered the Annalise burgerwhich looked yum. Went for a straight Patron as the margaritas where pre-mixed and received a healthy pour.

My wife and I absolutely love this restaurant. In my opinion, you should skip the other franchised locations in town and come straight here—this is the original, and it truly is the best! As for parking, there’s a lot right next to the restaurant, plus a larger lot directly across the street. They also have a protected intersection for easy access.

Very busy little spot with good reason. Food is great, staff is friendly, nice selection of beers. I had the Green Chili Stew which I loved! Sister had a burrito that was WAY too spicy to eat, but it was graciously exchanged for another item. Highly recommended.
