I've been going here since I was a toddler in the 1970s and I love that this institution is pretty much one of the last standing establishments of the Telegraph Ave area. Any dog is grilled to perfection within a few minutes despite having a line. When you are called make sure you know what you want. Tell the cook and they'll put it on the grill. Then they will usually ask if you want a drink (1.50) before cashing you out. What's great about Top Dog (this is the original flagship spot) is the added conversation about the local happenings and weirdos. If you don't like hot dogs, it's only because you haven't had a top dog. The best dogs, kielbasas, bratwursts, garlic dogs with all the trimmings. It's not that they've creatively added things no one has ever thought of. None of that. They've just taken the time to do the classics to perfection. Perfection.

Loved her calabrese sausages on sesame rolls with all fixations (ketchup, Russian mustard, chopped onions, sweet relish and sour) as a college friend and still have to eat after every cal football game!

A Berkeley operation. Feed hungry students for decades. Visit after midnight for full experience. The sausage is also quite good and spices are available for free.

Love it! I've been going to top dog for years finally got a chance to bring the kids. Best hot dog stand ever!
