Trailhead Restaurant Bar

I have lived/worked in the Black Mountain area for the past 20 years, I love my little town, and if there 's one thing I really love, it 's supporting local businesses. But I cannot give them my support, let alone my money. Even though the following example is the same experience we 've had every single time we 've eaten there, I have desperately wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I will no longer outstretch my goodwill. First, I arrived before my eldest daughter with my youngest daughter. Trailhead Restaurant in Black Mountain is a popular spot, and it’s easy to see why. I tried The Beacon Heights Sandwich, and it was really good. The only thing I’d tweak is the size of the avocado slices—they were a bit too big and made the sandwich a bit messy. My wife ordered the Below Sea Level mussels and loved the curry sauce that came with them. She was very impressed. One thing I wish they had on the menu is pizza, but I get that it would require more equipment. Overall, we had a great experience, and I’d definitely give it five stars!

The food wasn't great. I had a burger that was very salty and my husband had tacos. He ate half of my burger because there's not much to the tacos. The music was so loud that I got a headache by the end of my meal. The waitress was very nice but seemed to be running out of steam by the end of our meal. The register and kitchen was on the other side of the restaurant so she had run back and forth to our table and the other table in her section.

Bad service. No drink service the entire meal. Chewy fatty, lazily flavored, pesto $20 steak. Under cooked burger. Asked for no cilantro and the kitchen threw a handful on top.

On this particular day, it was absolutely packed. We waited over an hour for seating. The food was worth the wait, but it was just a busy day. I would try it again.
