We have eaten twice at this restaurant, trying both their Bistro menu and fine dining menu; once inside in Winter, once on the terrace. I have very mixed feelings, as the food is good, the staff is warm and helpful, but the service is slow and poor. More specifically: Food: generally good, probably better than most other options in the region. It is definitely in line with their 15/20 Gault Millau (but without sufficient creativity or sophistication to bring it to a Michelin star). We were excited to try out this restaurant, which is supposedly is the best in the area, but for several reasons we left with mixed feelings. We ordered venison escalope and falafel burger, and it took approx 1 hour from the moment we sat until we received our meals, which given the very busy night can anyway be understandable. The venison tasted great but the sides didn't really convince me; the kumquat peels felt a bit odd, and the cabbage was rather tasteless, the pear and the bruxelles sprouts on the other hand were great though. My niece and I had lunch one day and dinner the next at Victoria. The food is very good and the service exceptional. There is a main dining room and a “bistro.” It appears you can order off of either menu at lunch. We had been traveling, so we ordered a big meal for lunch. I had the trout, which was delicious. My niece had the coconut soup, which was also very good. All the ingredients were very fresh, and the waiter was very helpful in helping us decipher the menu. Let me start by saying it is the better option out of all the eating options in the area. We ordered starters, mains and dessert. Food is hit and miss. For starters, the Beef Tartar was good, but the Asian Food Platter was quite bland. For mains, the Fish with Vegetables was good but the Beef Pieces with Potatoes was so salty. And for dessert, we appreciate that the caramelized sugar on top of the Crema Catalan was crisp and it tasted really good. Service could be improved. We also felt that the find dining experience is lacking. But all in all, like what I said, it is the better option in the area so we will go again.
