Vulcanothek - Reservar uma mesa

We learned about this place from a food walking tour we did in Vienna; otherwise, I doubt we would have found it. It is a great find and definitely the reason why we do food tours. Vulcanothek is located in a passage/arcade so not on...the street, which is really nice. They have great charcuterie the ham is top notch. We have been back since the food tour and have ordered a board and then a couple of glasses of wine. It is a very small shop with not much seating. The last time we were there, they had tables in the passage walk through. Unfortunately, the cigarette smoke from the patrons outside wafted into the shop, which was quite unpleasant. While exploring the area around our hotel looking for a place to eat, my husband and I entered into the lovely Freyung Passage, a richly detailed passageway containing upscale shops and restaurants. The passageway is just around the corner from Café Central, and is worth...visiting. On a whim, we stopped into Vulcanothek for a light meal and drinks. The wine bar is cozy and inviting, and the women working there were fun and very helpful in describing food and drink options. We opted for a ham and cheese plate with bread and pickled walnuts (unique to this restaurant) – quite delicious with our wine and beer selections. We heard about this wine bar but we were not sure to go or not but it's really good, the guy is extremely polite and helpful, the dish with the ham top quality and the wines he proposed us to try excellent. It can fool...you because it's small and in a passage but at the end of the day it's great choice for wine and cold dishes.

The worst hospitality i have seen in my life. They dont let us to come inside because they told us that is reserved. We sit outside in the cold and after minutes they told that they dont have coffee for us. If you dont...want tourists tell us not to come in Vienna.

Very nice wines and hams were served here. Tables were prebooked and only available for a short time. Services could be a bit more friendly.
