"Family dinner with one vegetarian. Menu was ample and the curries, dumplings, etc really nice. Vegetarian meal was reported as really nice too. Only down side was the $6 single scoop of iced ice cream and spoon of old diced mango for desert. Rest was really good - 3 entrees, 4 mains, 2 bowls of rice, 1 dessert, 2 beers and pot of tea for $106. Pic says it all."

We were invited recently to a birthday dinner at Tibetan Wild Yak and found it a delightful and tasty food adventure. We had never eaten Tibetan food before and our only foray into Nepalese food some years back was disappointing. Tibetan Wild Yak proved to be a great experience with spicy excitingly flavoured foods and outstanding value for money. The space was relatively simple. As half the party were vegetarians we went with a mix of vegetarian banquets for four supplemented with a number of meat dishes including their Momo, a style of dim-sim or Gyozo but far better than anything I had ever eaten before. There was a wide array of tasty veto dishes including tofu, beans, lentils potatoes a...

Sure, the food is inexpensive and reasonably tasty, but in the end you get what you pay for here. A large group had to sit on a long table with half having the backs up against the wall so they couldn't move. And the restaurant just couldn't cope with the numbers (although it seemed to me that service would probably be confused and amateurish even with a small booking). It took ages for orders to be taken, so of course the food was very slow arriving. Meals were served in no apparent order, with my main course arriving while I was still eating my entree and others were still waiting for any of their food to be served. Some meals never arrived or were served long after others had finished, ri...

Everyone is raving about Wild Yak's momo dumplings, and after trying them for the first time I see why. The food in this little gem of a place is delicious, generous and very reasonably priced. Décor is pleasant and interesting, recreating an authentic Tibet Himalaya feel. The restaurant is patronised by Tibetans as much as Australians, which suggests it is the real deal. The superb food has something of Nepal, India and China, but also something unique that reflects the uniqueness of Tibet. I was surprised how well-rounded Tibetan food is, with dishes that could be European, to dishes indistinctly Asian, all served with a warm friendliness. A variety of beers are available but you BYO wine....

I've been her for a number of times now and thought it was time to give the place some promotion. Just to let you know it's not everyone's type of restaurant; food is great and flavorsome, the decor is fashionably Nepalese style, so don't expect a Fat Duck experience.. The service is welcoming and the place is relatively quite when I've visited, but as one review mentioned they can get busy on some nights and a little restaurant like this will undoubtedly have some issues. But saying this you get great food, lovely friendly service at a great price. I can also say that they do have some wine which is suitable too. No the biggest selection but yo'll find a drop that you can easily drink and e...
