Wonderful stay in the Primrose Shepards Hut. Super cosy and the wood fired hot tub was fab just takes a little time to get going but well worth it! The hut has its own private fenced garden which was great for our dog. We had a meal in the pub the first night on 1st Jan, unfortunately the triple cooked chips weren’t on and the service was slightly lacking. However, it was the first day of the year and these things happen. Christmas is a crazy time for hospitality so this is understandable. The location is great for visits to Ambleside, Keswick and Windermere. Highly recommend. Thank you for a great start to the year!
We recently had a wonderful stay in one of the cottages and it was perfect. The cottage had everything we needed and was very cozy. The outdoor balcony with a hot tub and log burner had stunning views. It was exactly what we needed after a busy festive work period. We enjoyed fantastic walks in the area and the weather was perfect. The bed was incredibly comfortable and we didn't want to leave it. We will definitely be returning in the future.
The Sunday roast at this restaurant was excellent. We tried the veggie nut roast, vegan roast, roast pork, and gammon with eggs and chips, and all were really good. The attention to detail, such as adding cinnamon to the red cabbage, was excellent. Washing it down with Loweswater Gold was a nice touch. I would definitely recommend this place and will be returning. Thank you!
This charming rural pub with a log fire is ideal for a cozy winter Sunday meal with friends. The portion sizes were generous and the added bonus of being dog friendly was a plus. The staff were welcoming and attentive, and the location is convenient for local walks with a deli next door.
