Au Marechal Brune - Reservar uma mesa

We arrived for lunch after a morning at the antique market. From the beginning, we had the feeling that were not welcome. We were too early for lunch, so had a drink until 12:00. We had to approach the staff to ask for menus once the time came, and even then, place settings and menus were provided to those around us and we ignored. Finally, we left money for our drinks and went to another restaurant for lunch. We have eaten there in the past and the service was acceptable, but the nice waiter was not there today. We were polite and friendly so we have no idea why we were ignored while others received service.

This restaurant seemed quite popular with Parisians. Food really nice big portions for a good price and fast service. All the time, during our stay, we received our food order in max 10 minutes. Although we were really surprised when on Saturday morning we couldn't had a chance to order any breakfast food there even it was like 11am only drinks. But same evening we agreed with waiter that next morning our group will come earlier and they will make us breakfast so that was really impressive.

A terrific meal. One of those simple dishes (roast chicken drumsticks, fried potatoes and a little salad) that are nevertheless bewilderingly good. Avuncular waiters, hurried but friendly. Will go back to see if my second visit is just as pleasing.

Had a pint of Paulaner Helles for 7 EUR sitting in the afternoon sun and enjoyed watching the busy crossing in front of me. Waiter was a bit grumpy first, but got friendlier over time. Crowd is all locals from the neighborhood. Recommendable...

Not gourmet stuff, but a decent Croque Madame and a cold beer were well received. Nearly everything could be improved, but the service was friendly and the prices were quite reasonable. The many locals were happy to be there.
