Bistro Vienna - Reservar mesa

This Austrian restaurant is located near the Messe along a neighborhood street. Kind of hidden but worth the find. The restaurant is small and loud because it was packed all night and it was Tuesday. That must tell you the food is excellent. The meals are home cooked by a chef and 5 assistants in the small kitchen. All the meals were cooked as they are ordered, so be patient. The tables are close (almost touching each other) so intimate discussions are not recommended. All the people around us were friendly and many lived in the area. The appetizers were left up to the server to decide and the selection was excellent especially the calamari in spicy tomato sauce. Our true Veal schnitzel was...

The restaurant was crowded and cheerful; we got a small table between other couples. We had Wildkraftbrühe mit Blutwursttascherln and Wiener Schnitzel mit Agurken- und Kartoffelsalat, and a bottle of Austrian wine. Genuine Austrian fare. Not the most exotic dishes on the menu, and not much waiter attention either. When I asked for a glass of red wine, I got a glass of red wine - the tired waiter didn't bother to ask what kind or how much (he had been very informative when the next table asked for a glass).It turned out that they did not accept my VISA card. When they invited my German-born girlfriend to try her VISA card at the counter, they were slightly patronizing. We will not be back.

OK I ordered Wiener Schnitzel...I'm in Germany...I needed a classic food fix! It was one of the best I've ever eaten...simple. Started with the fish soup and would have licked the bowl but my manners stopped me. Had a gorgeous red wine suggested by the staff...big and delicious. It isn't near anything...you need to make it a destination. No, they do not take reservations. Yes, the place is very small. If you are a foodie - go. And the staff are friendly even though English is not fluent...I went for a German experience and it was wonderful.

This is a true gem of a restaurant. Tiny locale with lots of atmosphere in a quiet neighborhood in student area of Hamburg. We had to wait to be seated together with others. Meanwhile enjoyed a terrific Riesling. Finally sitting down we had to wait a long time for food, but it was worth while and there is plenty going on in the restaurant. Not quiet or dead!! The food was just perfect. Terrific dorade starter. Wonderful Wienerschnitzel and beef main and rhubarb crumble desert. This place is a secret worth looking up and enjoying! Reserve uma mesa agora

I went here with some German friends who live in Hamburg. This is a tiny restaurant but obviously so popular that people (including us) were happy to wait (a considerable time) at the bar for a table to come free. The food was fantastic, the service was incredibly cheerful despite the crush of people, the bill ridiculously inexpensive for the quality of cooking and wine. I will be back next time I'm in Hamburg. Top tip - to get a table quickly arrive before 7.15!

My son picked this restaurant for his birthday celebration but on the first try we missed out on a seat and had to return a few days later. You can't book so you need to be there by 6:30pm or you face a long wait at the bar for a seat. The food is excellent so the squashy nature of the seating can be forgiven. The cuisine is Modern European and is of high quality. Service is good and friendly. People go there for quality food and sit and stay all evening.

I was here with my son and his girl friend, who live in Hamburg. They said the only way to get a table was to arrive early, so we came an hour early and sat sipping wine. Our wait was worth every minute. The food and service was superb. We shared a table with another couple, who were delightful. We all enjoyed each others' company and had great fun comparing our dishes.

This is an excellent, perhaps the best restaurant of Hamburg. Excellent starters, wonderful main dishes, brilliant Topfenknödel. There is a certain risk: you can get addicted to this place, its waiters, its food, its guests, its ambience. This is THE PLACE! Reserve uma mesa agora

Always great service and yummy food - this week's special (deer) was delicious, with a bottle of nice italian wine even better. To avoid waiting, it is best to arrive either at 6:30 or at 8:30pm.

Charming and cosy restaurant in a nice neighborhood. Service was excellent. The food was superb. I definitely recommend it.
