Comme Une Evidence

Went here for my birthday meal while on holiday hoping for something a bit special. To be honest, we were all a little disappointed. All of us had a decent meal there was nothing really wrong with any of it. But the overwhelming impression was of a restaurant that is trying too hard to be different and unfortunately not executing it very well. They should focus on just delivering the basics properly. For example, one of us had a takaki steak with noodles. It was nice but tasted more like satay beef. It just left us slightly deflated. Similarly the desserts were only ok the chocolate caramel tart is good, but the apricot tart was too sour and the il flottante was really quite odd with coconut...

We were a party of two family couples, and in a wet mid April with the season barely started , we had trouble finding a restaurant open. At 12.45 we found “Comme une Évidence” and inside it looked like a very simple cafe bar. The menu was very varied but we each chose just a plat de jour and a dessert. The plat was filet mignon (pork fillet) with a crispy crumb of pain d’epice, served with ratatouille, a light sauce and a potato and vegetable rösti. Absolutely delicious. As was the small chocolate, caramel and peanut tartelette beautifully presented, light and not too sweet. It was a remarkable meal, and I thanked the chef. How lovely to eat in a restaurant on the island where the food is different, beautifully presented, very well priced for the quality and all served in a pleasant, friendly way. The first bottle of rosé was not very nice but this was changed with no fuss. All three courses were well thought out and delicious. One small detail staff could be smarter dressed as they all looked as though they’d arrived from the beach.

Two courses for 17 and three for 23 with a good selection of local fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. The waiting staff are helpful and efficient, ask for a glass of local wine you won't be disappointed! It's a good place to have lunch outside on the market square, watching the world go by.

We had a decent dinner at the restaurant Comme une évidence. The food is tasty and simple. The prices were very reasonable and the staff were friendly. The right place for a quick simple dinner.
