My wife and I were greeted with huge smiles and a gentleman opening the door for us. It turns out the manager, Adam, was the gentleman opening the door. As we walked to our table, all the staff we passed, smiled and welcomed us. Our waiter, Ken, was incredible. He was prompt, courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable about his recommendations. He explained in great detail all of the dishes we inquired. We chose the fish dip with house made potato chips, catfish with beure blanc, the pork chop with blueberry glaze, the prime ribeye, and cabbage and green beans. We were excited to dine at J.C. Holdway and as this was our 4th time there we had some idea of what to expect. Spectacular food; check! Beautiful restaurant; check! Fantastic greeting upon arrival; check! Our appetizers arrived quickly upon ordering and the hushpuppies and smoked fish dip did not disappoint. They both were exceptional. My trout was the best I have ever had, bar none! If you love fish get this. The porkchop my friends got was top notch according to them. My wife's pasta was exceptional according to her. For the first time, I wish there are more stars to give! JC Holdway is beyond impressive all round. Service was impeccable there was a large staff and everyone we interacted with was professional, engaging and knowledgeable. Our server was able to talk about ingredients, cooking method and taste! And the food, OMG! They were perfection! Our potato crusted catfish was so delicate, kale and squash salad was so soft and bursting with flavor and roasted chicken was amazing! We are already planning to visit again!! We need you in Asheville!!

Phenomenal experience at JC holdway! I cannot say enough about the exceptional service. Our waiter (Davin I think is his name) walked us through the menu with special tips and descriptions. He was spot on with everything. My favorite things were the egg in a bowl gnocchi and the bolognese. Everything came as a perfect bite when you put every single ingredient together. Fantastic food and friendly staff. I have a gluten allergy, and before they served us, they realized they added potatoes that were cooked in a fryer with food containing gluten. They apologize and re-cooked a complete new meal. They could have simply removed the contaminated food, but we're kind enough to make sure it was safe. It's definitely one of our favorite Knoxville restaurants. Dietary restrictions: Great Celiac safe restaurant

It was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The food was exceptional, with every dish perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented. The service was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and efficient without being intrusive. The ambience was pleasant, providing a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. Overall, it was a delightful outing that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a memorable meal.

For the price you expect a near perfect experience but there were some things I didn’t like The lighting was too dark for my taste, the chicken dry, over salted, the caviar seemed dry, and the server essentially stole a glass of wine from me when he got cork in my glass so the value is not great but definitely in the top 20 restaurants of Knoxville.
