La Table d'Olivier

We had a birthday dinner here and had been thinking of trying this restaurant for some time but were always turned away on short notice because of being fully booked. I can see why. The food offered up interesting flavours and was perfectly presented by the chef and attentive, friendly waitress (there are only two people working here...chef and waitress-husband, wife!!! . The portions were small but we both felt fully sated at the end of the evening. An excellent wine list was also on offer we were pleasantly delighted by the recommendations for our choice of meal. How can one man working alone in the kitchen create such sophisticated, inventive dishes? I can't express my admiration enough. I thought this kind of food required a team of sous chefs to accomplish, but Olivier does it all. And the dishes come out without a long wait as the restaurant is completely full. Best meal we enjoyed in Brive. The two women waiting on tables were lovely. I still can't understand how food with such fine ingredients can be so inexpensive.

I've decided that this is without a doubt, the best restaurant in the area. I live locally and have tried many of the restaurants in Brive and La Table d'Olivier does such a great job at giving you a great dining experience. My last meal there introduced my to all sorts of new flavors. What an adventure. We will most definitely return and we look forward to our next visit to the Table d'Olivier.

Very disappointing for a Michelin starred restaurant. Heavy handed cooking with no imagination and little execution. Summed up by the cafe au lait that we were served at the end of the meal which was stone cold having been prepared by adding a large amount of cold milk to an espresso.

Sadly, although we were advised by phone that they close at 3pm we were turned away when we arrived at 2.10pm.
