"A superb location, superb service, and amazing food. This restaurant reminded me of the early days of Les Vieux Puits in Fontjoncuese. It is only a matter of time before one won't be able to drop in on a whim anymore."

Arriving in Carcassone on a Friday morning we checked the restaurant's Facebook page to find they were open for lunch so off we drove to Camplong-d'Aude. Arriving at the restaurant we found it deserted except for one staff member who informed us that they are normally open but that day they were closed because of an off-site catering job. OK, perhaps we should have rung to make a reservation, but it would be nice if they updated their Facebook feed to inform of such closures. We did book for the following Friday and we had a very enjoyable lunch indeed, so much so that before we left we booked lunch with the waitress for the following Thursday, our last lunch in France during this trip. When...

We had reserved table for lunch four of us. We came to an empty restaurant that was open just for us as it looked like. The setting was nice so we had high expectations. They had just one starter, one main and one desert to choose. The starter was very nice but he main was a knuckle of duck that was absolutely impossible to penetrate with any manual tool. We told them and they said it should be like that, but offered to take the meat off the bone and try to make it more tender. After 15 minutes it came back in pieces that was like eating pieces of shewing gum without taste. We did not eat it. The desert was all right but not great. Anyway we ordered coffee, payed and left. No-one said good b...

This is a destination restaurant at bargain pricing. The menu is modestly priced and elegantly presented. Our tuna and veal were cooked to perfection. The opener, A Perfect Egg was indeed, served perfectly in a beautifully baked eatable butternut squash. Desert fabulous. All of this and gluten free! The wine list was local with many natural options. Our waiter Louis, was helpful, hard working and willing to ask the chef our many questions. A “good guy”!

Fabulous food and friendly service not really much English spoken so make sure you have Google translate because some of the items are not your usual fare. Very reasonably priced. A more varied cheese selection might have been nice but a very minor point to make. We would definitely go back.
