The establishment is under new ownership. Unfortunately, this time around it falls quite flat and leaves much to be desired. The menu options are fairly similar to the old menu, but the undertaking of properly plating and creating a eating experience certainly could benefit from a lot of improvement. We were seated outside this fantastic location, with a great view of downtown surrounded by flowers and aged trees. The scenery of Read Rock is second to none in Calgary, a small rock path up reveals a century plus year old home that is truly breathtaking and provides a wonderful relaxing atmosphere. We were served quite quick, the GM was helping out with another young man who were friendly and...

I've visited here a few times, each under new management. Most recently, we joined them for Mother's Day brunch. I had advised them several weeks in advance that one guest in our party had celiac disease, and was reassured that there would be gluten-free options. The tables were beautifully arranged, but brunch was a bit of a gong show. Service was slow, the food was lukewarm, and many of the breads and muffins that had been set out were already dried out and unappetizing. Although we kept reminding our server that we required a gluten-free option, they kept bringing regular bread, and could not tell us whether the granola, sausages, etc. contained gluten. The service was so slow, we had jus...

This is actually one of my favourite locations in the city. The grounds are actually stunning, and I love the historical significance behind it. There aren't many places in the city to walk through lovely manicured gardens. The Cafe is in a cool Heritage building, and is lovingly preserved. I have previously had delightful food here. I'm sad to say I was disappointed with the food, as were my companions. I had an arugula salad that came without the goat cheese. When the waiter returned with the goat cheese it was sadly underwhelming.. maybe a tablespoon. Sigh. My husband had one of the sandwiches. Dry bread and a smattering of egg. We've had beautiful meals here before, with artfully presente...

We went with a group at the end of June for a lunch here, and everyone enjoyed their food. Our server was very attentive, friendly, and helpful. I had the braised beef and spaetzle, and was it ever good! The garden setting is stunning, quite the hidden gem. It seems the new owners are Austrian, and it really showed with my delicious noodle dish - I could eat that all day. It may take a small while to tweak things to get a cohesive menu going, but there's talent in the kitchen back there, so I'm sure they'll get there. This place is a little out of the way, and so word-of-mouth and returning customers (as opposed to people strolling by) are important - what they go for and what they expect mi... Charming historical building and beautiful location. Friendly staff but service was very slow. Food quality was ok. Biggest concern was the lack of handicap access. Pushed a wheelchair uphill on a gravel path that had signage stating "wheelchair and stroller access" to get to the cafe. Turned out there is a road to get to the cafe through the adjacent cemetery but there was a lack of signs so couldn't find the way. No washrooms on the main level. The staff said there was an elevator to the downstairs level where the washrooms are located but said we couldn't use it as people get trapped in it and they would have to phone the fire department to get us untrapped. If you have mobility issues yo...

This is truly one of the gems of the city. Definitely go for the view, cocktails, and coffee! The breakfast I ordered (The classic) was just ok. Eggs were done perfectly poached medium, but the potatoes were cold, turkey sausage reminded me of a hotdog and it only came with one piece of toast. I was expecting some hearty goodness of bread, but it was the most underwhelming piece of bread. Service was good. I just wish the food measured up to everything else amazing about this place.

The atmosphere & views of the city are awesome. The service was good even though very busy. Most of us enjoyed our meal. My husbands eggs were over cooked & he thought the bread was disappointing. I had the eggs Benedict with fruit & the fruit was hard. Our friend ordered dessert & again was disappointed. The grounds are a great place to explore where good walking shoes uneven paths.

Have always wanted to have lunch here. Popped in after going through the fabulaous rock garden and really enjoyed the historic yet modern ambiance and delicious food. Our brunch apple french toast also included a beautiful garnish picked rit off the plants outside and I found the edible hollyhock lovely! The staff are warm and we had a relaxing lunch with an amazing view. Reserve uma mesa agora

Family get together for father's day/my birthday. My choice as I had been there a few years back and always meant to go back. The location is still superb, a little oasis in the city. The food was far inferior to the one we had in the past. Service friendly but slow as it was a busy day.
