There are several restaurants here (if you either go winter sports or make a hike in the summer). Some have pretty stupid prices, but this one has really reasonable prices. Not only that, the food itself is also worth a visit. Inside it is on the smaller side. And that's good. Really warm, cozy and welcoming. A bit like in the living room of an old Swiss house. There are some of the usual items on the menu (Schnitzel, Cordon Bleu, Steak.... but also some more interesting decisions. I went for the Aelpler Roesti. It's simple, but delicious. It is a whole plate of roast, then some ham, with melted cheese... and an egg up (sunny side up). It's hard to fill it....it's good! Especially in winter...
There are some venerable buildings in Melchsee Frutt, making it even more desirable to visit one of the places that look like they belong there. This is the Posthuis. I understand that this is one of the better places to eat, but we only had time to drink and a drink after a walk around the lake. The menu was packed with local Swiss goodies, but that must be for another time. Loved the service, the ambience and the Aperol Spray. A perfect end for a perfect visit to the mountains.
We spent a very nice evening at the Posthuis. The Restaurant was full, service still very attentive and professional. The cream of tomato soup was excellent, as was the Entrecote and the Rösti with cheese and tomato. Waiting time between first and second course seemed a bit too long, however must be expected during the busy time during the week of new year. Overall a very nice experience and surely a Restaurant to visit during your stay at Melchsee Frutt.
