Towpath Cafe - Reservar uma mesa

I really wanted to love the Towpath Cafe. The venue is lovely and the food is decent to good quality but the service is shambolic. I live locally and have gone for breakfast brunch a few times now, each time hoping that I would finally !!! get the hype surrounding the cafe. Clearly I am a sucker for punishment. Most recently, my partner and I stopped by on a Wednesday morning for breakfast. When ordering, we were told there was neither oat milk nor ice for coffees. I get that supplies run out from time to time, but this was a weekday so not that busy and it wasn 't even mid day yet! Fine, whatever, we 'll just have hot black coffees even though it 's 26 degrees out. Our food took 45 minutes...

I used to be a regular at Towpath, but after yesterday's experience, I will not be returning. My family visited from Italy for the weekend and I was excited to have breakfast at Towpath. However, upon arrival, all tables were full. I asked the waitress if a couple at a large table could move to a smaller one so we could sit down, but she refused and told us to wait 20-30 minutes. We waited in a corner, only to be told by the waitress that we were not welcome because we seemed stressed and they would not serve us food. We walked from Kings Cross getting a bit confused when the canal goes underground thru Islington but helpful locals set us on the way down Chapel Market across Upper St to the resumption of the towpath. The cafe is another mile. Not too big a place but even on a Saturday, the queue was 10 15 minutes for canal side picnic benches. Brunch menu, including a very tasty tomato masala dal. The canal itself is rather murky, it must be said. Still, unique place, worth the effort to find. Walk a few hundred yds east to Kingsland Rd for bus to London Bridge.

The flavors in every dish at this restaurant were outstanding, with unique and complementary ingredient combinations. The staff was friendly and attentive, despite the slight delay in service due to the busy atmosphere. The cozy, rustic ambiance and peaceful canal-side setting added to the overall experience. This was my first time dining at Towpath Cafe, but it certainly won't be my last. I urge others not to be discouraged by any negative reviews.

There is no bathroom available ! . The artichoke is served cold and is hard as wood. Never tried anything like this. Waiting time, price, politeness and food quality make the experience in this hipster-style place really unpleasant. Nice location by the canal.
