About a decade ago I decided to give my wife the best dinner I could buy her. We were in Rome and I took her to the top-rated restaurant in Rome and asked them to make us happy. It was a remarkable meal in many ways, not least the ambiance of the balcony on a 75 degree summer night with the bells of St Peter’s wafting below us. And yes it cost a fortune. We went tonight to Momento’s in Evora, with nothing like the expectations of that meal in Rome. Chef Jorge Fava Rica was amazing, not only in his preparations but in the hands-on way he interacted with us, explaining everything on the menu personally, repeatedly checking with us, and treating us as friends rather than mere customers. Nós acidentalmente tropeçamos em Momentos e estamos tão felizes que fizemos. O proprietário e a equipe de espera eram muito amigáveis e eram extremamente confortáveis quando lhes dissemos que éramos vegetarianos. As pessoas chegaram logo depois de nós com requisitos livres de glúten / Lactose e o pessoal de espera / proprietário ficaram felizes para acomodar para eles também! A comida é localmente fonte e super fresca. As placas são únicas e surpreendentes com ênfase em vegetais locais e frescos. Quando você vem, o chef sai e pergunta imediatamente se você tem alguma restrição alimentar. Quando dissemos que éramos veganos, ele demonstrou muito conhecimento sobre veganismo e explicou quais pratos do menu eram veganos e o que poderia ser feito vegan. Tivemos alguns aperitivos- cogumelos com queijo vegano e abobrinha com molhos dentro e um curry como prato principal. O curry foi possivelmente o melhor que já provei. Ele também fez uma tábua de queijos veganos personalizada para sobremesa para nós. Ele saiu várias vezes para conversar conosco e ver se gostamos dos pratos. Também dividimos uma boa garrafa de vinho local.

It’s our second visit 5 years after the first amazing experience. How many restaurants we have visited that we keep talking about the flavor, the taste, the texture for so long ? The owner is a highly experienced professional that choose the quality path and produced a completely different concept of restaurant that for us is described as unique. Um lugar aparentemente simples, mas uma vez lá dentro, uma sala íntima nos aguarda. Um acolhimento caloroso em português e inglês. Um Chef atencioso que fala francês e nos explica o cardápio, preparando para nós dois pratos veganos feitos com vegetais frescos, especiarias e sabores múltiplos. Tudo isso com uma mozzarella vegana à base de amêndoas. Degustação de azeitonas e azeite de oliva. Uma delícia.

I could write a review with a thousand words about the great experience we had, but it would not be reflecting the feeling of the night. A passionate owner, chef and storyteller lets the food speak. No heaps of salt, just local (whenver possible) and fresh produce. Prepared with love and passion. This restaurant alone is a reason to come back to the lovely town of Ėvora

This may be the best meal I have ever had anywhere. I would happily fly to Portugal just to eat here. Our host chatted with us and picked both our foor and our wine for us and he absolutely nailed it. The food and the welcoming experience were simply world-class.
